K2 is a full-featured package designed to drive virtually any new or existing CTP engine and will also allow you to integrate digital and wide-format output streams. Designed to replace many of the aging systems installed by Kodak, Fujifilm, Agfa (Eco3) and Heidelberg over the past several years.  Without compromising functionality, speed or performance, K2 is a competitively priced alternative to expensive upgrades and costly subscription models.

K2’s job submission module is browser-based, which means it can be accessed from any platform on the network. It clearly defines incoming work, allowing operators (or even CSRs) to get jobs into the system quickly and efficiently. Upload multiple PDFs grouped as projects, so that all components remain catalogued together, even when the individual job pieces process through separate workflows. Know at a glance where each job is in the production cycle. View run lists, split jobs among presses, perform late page replacement, even change presses or impositions on the fly!

K2 comes with five concurrent Mac and/or PC Clients (additional licenses available), which gives each operator their own window into the workflow. Mac and PC Clients share the exact same functionality, which puts complete control of the workflows on each operator’s desktop. Resubmit jobs, track progress, check preflight status, alter impositions, modify trap settings, and view RIPed jobs before releasing them to plate. Allow or restrict users according to the administrator ‘s requirements. Need to move a job from one press to another and change the imposition accordingly? You have the power, and it only takes seconds!

Preflight Module

K2’s preflight module uses the Enfocus preflight library, the leader in preflight programming. K2 will automatically validate PDF files against your requirements, ensuring correct processing. Custom action lists modify files with no manual intervention, speeding up your work and getting you to error-free plates and proofs quickly and efficiently.

K2’s RIP core is based on the industry-leading Harlequin v14 PDF 2.0 interpreter. Recognized as the fastest RIP in the world, Harlequin has been trusted by the print industry for over 30 years.

PDF Based Trapping

Don’t slow your system down by waiting for in-RIP Trapping! K2’s trapping engine applies traps in the PDF. It’s clean, quick, and interactive. You can inspect, compare, and modify traps on the fly, or leave it on automatic and simply inspect and verify. You can even use the built-in viewer to simulate press mis-registration, so you know the traps are sufficient for the press run.

Dynamic Imposition

Quickly and efficiently prepare jobs for final plate, hard copy proofing, and electronic proofing. Fast, Easy, and Powerful, operators can view the imposed work and release it manually or set up for total automation. You never have to take the PDF out of the workflow and run it through a separate imposition application.

Ink Remapping

Catch redundant spot colors before they get to plate! Quickly and easily identify incorrect separation elements caused by designer miscues. Remap colors to the correct separation, change angles to prevent interference between colors, or convert to CMYK before the PDF gets to the RIP.
